PTC Happier, Healthier Relationships Using Type and IFS Internal Family Systems
Session 2: Embracing Your Exiles
facilitated by Doris Fullgrabe
What if relationships weren’t problems to fix, but developmental arenas where we can grow into more capable versions of ourselves?
Happier Healthier Relationships (HHR) 2026 will focus on growing our relational capacity using Type and the IFS (Internal Family Systems) model.
This session focuses on exiles: the younger, tender aspects of the psyche that were sidelined in the process of adapting to family, culture, and expectations. We’ll explore how inferior and neglected functions might carry material that feels overwhelming, shameful, or unsafe, and how IFS offers a careful way to approach this terrain without emotional flooding or self-criticism.
I hope you’ll leave with a new understanding of how your Type development shaped not only what you rely on, but what you learned to hide, and how to meet those places with more compassion and care.
Meeting four times/year, this PTC is open to all current APTI members at no additional charge.
Here are the dates and times for the remaining sessions in 2026:
May 28th - Session 2: Embracing Your Exiles 1:00-2:30 PM ET
August 27th Session 3: Leading from Self 1:00-2:30 PM ET
October 29th Session 4: Weaving It Together: IFS, Type, and the Individuation Journey 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM ET
The goal of the Psychological Type Community model is to create a sense of community where people get to know each other better through discussions. Sessions will be recorded. However, you will benefit most by participating in the live online sessions.
